God Delivers During Times of Opposition

“Where we run during times of trouble says a lot about where we put our faith. Trust always in the Lord!”

— Rebecca Bracey

Life is filled with uncertainties and challenges. As believers, our faith in God is continually put to the test by the opposition from the enemy. The enemy uses whatever means possible to discourage us and try to disrupt our trust in God. However, during the moments of opposition, we have to remember that God is more than capable of defending Himself and His people. God even gives us the key to overcome the opposition we face here:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

This verse teaches us that prayer is not only a significant weapon in our arsenal when facing opposition from the enemy, oftentimes it is the very KEY to healing our land and bringing in revival. When we pray to God, we acknowledge that we need His help, and we submit ourselves (and our situations!) to His will.

Strength Amid Opposition

In times of opposition, when the heat is on and circumstances try to derail us, it is easy to become overwhelmed and lose sight of God’s faithfulness. However, this is when we must cling to His promises and find our strength in Him. Psalm 46:1 says “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” We need to be reminded that God is EVER-PRESENT. We don’t need to face trials and opposition alone.

When we acknowledge Him and invite Him into our situations with our prayers, He becomes our refuge and source of strength to face any challenge that comes our way. Remember that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), so we can trust that He will carry us through even the toughest of situations. This can be hard for us to learn, but we don’t have to be strong (especially not in the arm of the flesh) but you just have to lean on the One who is!

God’s Power = Our Deliverance

One of the main reasons we struggle to trust God during times of opposition is because we underestimate His power. We tend to forget that the Creator of the universe, God of Heaven and Earth, is on our side, and nothing is impossible for Him! Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

The true magnitude of God’s power transcends our comprehension, and yet we often wait until the last possible moment to go to the Lord in prayer. We have to remember God’s power is not just a theological concept to be studied but a reality to be experienced… and not just as a last resort! As the verse in Isaiah teaches us, He is right there with us, and He is willing to step in to our circumstances and move mightily on our behalf!

God As Our Battles’ Champion

Another significant lesson we can learn is that God is willing to fight for His people! In Exodus 14:14, God tells Moses, “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still.” This verse reminds us that we do not fight alone; God is with us in our battles. He is the One who turns the tide, He is our great champion in the midst of trial and trouble.

Just like God delivered the Israelites from the hands of their enemies in Exodus, He will also deliver us from our struggles when we put our trust in Him. This does not mean that we will not face difficulties or trials, but it means that God is with us every step of the way. He is our shield and protector, and He will guide us through any battle we may face.

Conclusion:

As believers, we have the assurance that we can trust God’s deliverance and God’s intervention during times of opposition from the enemy. We’re not completely absolved of responsibility, however, we need to pray and bring our battles to Him. Inviting Him into our situations, knowing that He is fighting for us and bringing our deliverance. Entrust your battles to God and trust in His deliverance, knowing that He has the power to overcome any challenge we face.
