Does the Lord Need Our Help?

There are times in our lives when we feel like we can’t do anything on our own. We may be struggling with a difficult situation, or feeling lost and alone.

— Rebecca Bracey

In these moments, it’s natural to look for hope and guidance. We may seek out others for support, or try to find comfort in prayer, but what happens when we feel like we’re doing everything right, and still don’t see the blessings that we hope for? This was the situation that Sarai found herself in.

What do we do when we feel like the Lord needs our help?

When we feel like the Lord needs our help, we should seek His guidance through prayer and scripture study. We can also look for examples of others who have dealt with similar situations. It’s important to remember that we are not alone, and that the Lord will help us if we put our trust in Him.

Sarai made the mistake of taking matters into her own hands and trying to fulfill God’s promises on her own.

Sarai allowed her hope and desire for a child to overshadow her trust in the Lord’s timing and plan. Instead of waiting on the Lord, she convinced Abram to sleep with her servant Hagar, resulting in conflict and heartache. We must remember that the Lord’s blessings come in His perfect timing, not ours.

In moments of frustration or doubt, it can be tempting to try and take control and “help” the Lord in fulfilling His promises. Ultimately, we must have hope and trust in Him to lead us towards blessings in His perfect timing. As Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The blessings of waiting on the Lord

It may not always be what we expect, but they are always for our good. In Sarai’s case, she eventually did have a son through the Lord’s plan and timing, but not without heartache and difficulty. The blessings that come from waiting on the Lord may not always be what we hope or expect, but they will always be for our good. And ultimately, His plan is greater than anything we could imagine for ourselves. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Trust in the Lord with hope and patience, knowing that He has great things in store for

How to find hope in difficult times

In moments of despair and frustration, it can be difficult to maintain hope, but we can find hope in the promises of God found in scripture. We can also turn to prayer and seek guidance and comfort from others in our faith community. Remember that the Lord is always with us and will never leave us alone. As Romans 12:12 reminds us, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Trust in the Lord’s plan for your life and hold onto hope knowing that He works all things for good. (Romans 8:28)

Prayer and hope in difficult situations

Prayer can offer hope and comfort in difficult situations. It allows us to lift up our worries and fears to the Lord, and trust in His plan for us. As Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer helps us surrender control to the Lord and trust in Him during trying times. May we have hope and trust in the Lord’s plan for our lives as we pray for guidance and blessings.
